Luohan Temple, Chongqing
Luohan Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing. This temple was built by a prominent monk called Zuyue (祖月) in the Zhiping period (1064–1067) of the Song dynasty (960–1276). That’s why it was initially also called “Zhiping Temple” at the time. Luohan temple is renowned for its over 400 Buddha statues and their historical inscriptions that also stem from the Song dynasty.
