Gratitude

poetry

What are you grateful for?

An open ear
an honest smile

a big bear hug
that lasts a while.

All of a sudden,
The voice of a friend

It might be a stranger
who offers their hand.

Sunbeams kissing your face
cheeks warm like desert sand.

Chinese wisteria in the air
Purple tulips, just as fair

Gratitude
Is what I feel

Gratitude
for every meal.

It comes from within
it comes from without.

I need to be here,
I need to go out.
